Hi everyone, I hope you are enjoying your long bank holiday weekend! We are still here serving you all of your cigar and whisky needs! I had a very interesting week to say the least!

On Monday it was business as usual with online orders, plenty of pickings to keep us all busy. However, I am now involved in our marketing meetings which are also Monday mornings. In these meetings the marketing team and myself discuss our plans going forward, what products to promote and any special offers we can do in store and online etc. The discussions were long but in the end we had about 5 new ideas to put into place in the shop, one of which is something I am very excited about… We are getting a coffee machine! The idea behind it is to make you all a coffee and we can just talk about different cigars while in a comfortable environment, enjoying a coffee. When you come into the Norfolk store I hope you all enjoy a coffee with us! Another exciting idea that came out of the meeting was an idea to have a raffle to win a free event ticket to those who are subscribed to the monthly shop newsletter and spend over £50 in store! It’s another great way to socialise with people who have the same thing in common with you… Cigars!

On Tuesday, I spent the day working on my monthly shop newsletters. It really sounds like they have a great time in their stores so I really recommend going to see them all if you can! (Norfolk store is the best though). Once I completed them I created a new article for the C.Gars cigar library. It’s about a very underrated Cuban brand that I think everyone should try, Saint Luis Rey. You can read that article here. Later on I also took pictures of the cigars of the month for August. Our humidor manager Billy decides which cigars to use each month and this month they are two great smokes, the Cuban is the Partagas Serie E No. 2 and the New world is the Tabernacle David

Thursday was a vastly different day! We had a quarterly stock count, this means everyone who works here is given a certain amount to count. As always I count the cigars, my team consisted of Josh, Ciaran and Katie, the latter mainly works behind the scenes with the online orders. Josh and I counted the New World room whilst Katie and Ciaran counted the Cuban room and thankfully we got everything done within the day! But counting cigars is certainly draining!

Good Friday means opening at midday so we all get to have a lie in! Myself, Ciaran and Sarah concentrated on picking all of the orders and packing them ready for booking on. Plenty of our online customers enjoyed our special easter sampler competitions and good luck to those that entered. I served 2 great gentlemen who travelled from Leicester to visit, they had previously visited our store on St James’s street and wanted to visit Norfolk too. They treated themselves to some great cigars including the Mitchellero Robusto, of which they had heard of but never tried.

On Saturday again we concentrated on the online orders, we picked as many orders as we could and while some were packed, I booked them on the Royal Mail system, ready for them to be picked up on Tuesday. I also spent time organising the shop ready for a busy bank holiday Monday!

I hope you have enjoyed this weeks blog and I look forward to seeing you all in store very soon!

So long for now

Oliver
